I’ve had over 150 candidate conversations and the number one reason people want to join Included Health is purpose.
In these 45-90min conversations, people tell me why they want this job. Often, it’s helplessly watching a loved one go through a less-than-ideal healthcare experience. It’s a mental dilemma of being equipped with useful skills, but not knowing what to do with them. It’s a natural next step to look for opportunities to apply those skills to healthcare.
That’s what makes our engineering team so special. Day to day, it’s easy to forget when we just really need the feature to work. But the reason people are motivated to write the extra unit test, to really rack their brain for the best system design, is because on the other side, there is someone trying to connect with their doctor.
As a leader, every one of these conversations sticks with me. It is a constant reminder for my own “why” and how important it is to always connect our projects and deadlines to purpose.
