Every year on our birthdays, my friend group goes around and says our high from our last trip around the sun, our low, and what we’re most looking forward to in the next. My birthday was last week so I thought I’d share mine :)
~ my high ~ I am so grateful for my San Francisco community. Whether it’s a morning run with my neighborhood girl group or weeknight dinner with my closest friends, my family being nearby, cozy coffee shops and the local library branch – I think this is what home feels like. This year has felt so warm and fuzzy thanks to all of it.
_ the low _ I don’t think fully remote work suits me in this stage of life. I love the periodic in-person gatherings and seeing a couple colleagues every Wednesday. But so many of my SF/NY peers have elected to return to 3-5x days in-office and I find myself missing the deeper connections and the joy of building things with a team irl. The AI boom in SF has definitely raised the opportunity cost of staying remote.
~ the future ~ I’m embarking on a new adventure that I’m extremely excited about. Not trying to be coy, I just don’t want to jump the gun before things are inked. :)
(also: huge perk of Waymo is when your birthday balloon takes up the whole car, there’s no driver whose vision you’re blocking 🎈)
